MACA CELEBRATES THE PRINCIPLES OF KWANZAA!!!

The “Kwanzaa Celebration 2004” presented by Markham African Caribbean Association was successfully held on December 11, 2004 at the Milliken Mills High School.

The opening ceremony began at 11:00 am. Christine Pryce, the Vice President Markham African Caribbean Association gave thanks to all the Caribbean Association) and Cecil Roach (Principal, York Region District School) were the
MCs of the ceremony. The guests who attended the ceremony included :
Jack Heath (Regional Councillor of Markham), Chief Armand LaBarge (York Regional Police), Vicki Bismilla (York Region District School Board), Malek Mc Gregor (Youth & Education Co-ordinator Markham African Caribbean Association), Pastor Stuart Williams(Youth Pastor,Rosewood Church of the Nazarene) etc.

The celebration featured: poetry, music (Umoja Cultural Group), drumming (Muhtadi), candles lighting (Nguzo Saba), Designer’s Cove Fashion Show, arts and crafts, and fine food.
