of Commerce in Markham host the May Network Luncheon
for business executives & professionals on May 7,
2004 at Century Palace Chinese Restaurant.
Ms.
Sandra?am, guest speaker and the manager of the Markham
Small Business Enterprise Centre, presented the topic
on “How small business can benefit from Government
programs”. Ms.?am gave us detail information and
data about the Town of Markham, business environment
and the programs offered by the Provincial Government
that can benefit small business, such as:

Business Service Centre Regional Access Partners (http://www.cbsc.org/ontario/),
- Sources
of financing (www.strategis.gc.ca/sources),
- Employment
& Training Assistance Program :
Youth Opportunities Ontario (www.youthjobs.gov.on.ca),
Summer Jobs Service:
This Ontario government program can help youth find
a summer job. The program provides free services to
improve their job-search and self-marketing skills.
It also provides a $2/hour wage support for jobs with
businesses and farms, as well as with not-for-profit
and other community organizations and it can last
up to 16 weeks.
