Sunday, September 19, 2004

The Town of Markham hosted its 2004 "Celebrate Our Volunteers" event to recognize and say thank you to Markham's many volunteers for their community spirit. The event took place on Sunday, September 19, 2004 at noon at the Markham Civic Centre with a barbeque lunch.

Deputy Mayor Frank Scarpitti, members of Council and more than 500 local volunteers celebrated in the open area of the Markham Civic Centre. The event featured a lot of delicious food and entertainment by the Markham Concert Band, Country Friends Fiddlers and the Kick Up A Fuss Cloggers. The Cloggers even dedicated a special dance performance to honour Dr. Ken Ng at 2:30pm.

The volunteers of FCCM/CCCM in 2004, were all invited to join this event and their names were recognized on the honour list. Dr. Ken Ng, the Chairman of FCCM, and the volunteers shared this joyful afternoon together.
