Paula Lishman, international fur designer,
keynote speaker at awards ceremony
AJAX- Paula Lishman, Durham resident
and local exporting success story, will be the keynote
speaker at the central region Ontario Global Traders
Awards (OGTA) and Export Forum, presented by Ontario
Exports Inc., the export development agency of the
Government of Ontario.

This year marks the silver anniversary of
Paula Lishman International. Lishman has received several
awards for her international achievements. She transforms
pelts into fur yarn and then into knit, woven or crocheted
fur fabric, which gives a three dimensional effect. Her
unique technique and designs have made her name famous on
the runways of Paris, Milan and Tokyo as well as across
the fashion industry.
Now in its seventh year, the awards and export
forum will be held at the new Deer Creek Golf & Banquet
Facility in Ajax on April 14. Registration will begin at
7:30 a.m. The export forum is designed to help small and
medium-sized enterprises to further enhance and develop
their export readiness and expand into new markets. It offers
business leaders access to trade experts and provides opportunities
to learn about strategies to assist them expand their business
globally.
Topics on the agenda include: the Latest
Canada-U.S. Border Issues; Financing for Global Competitiveness;
Succeeding in Emerging Markets: China, India, Middle East
and Latin America.
At midday, the Ontario Global Traders Awards
will be presented to the winners in the six award categories
(Leadership; Innovation: Market Expansion Product; Market
Expansion Service; Partnership; and Student Achievement).
The Hon. Joseph Cordiano, Minister of Economic Development
and Trade, has been invited to present the awards.
The award ceremony will be followed by a
Buffet and Networking Luncheon. Cost of registration for
the Export Forum and Awards luncheon is $95.00.
